Adding content on mobile

The biggest missing piece in the new mobile views for BCX is easily content creation. You can't add anything to projects but comments. I've been thinking for some time that taking advantage of the email-in project dropbox might be more than just judo. Today I started to design that flow to see how it might work and I'm pretty happy with where it's going. Here's how it works:

  1. Navigate to a project to see an "email content to this project" button on the perma
  2. The next screen has buttons for each type of content that can be added.
  3. Click one to reveal brief instructions and a big button that launches a new email with the dropbox address and special subject already filled in.

One thing I like about this solution is that it feels appropriate here. Email is handy and powerful on mobile. Your device's email client is familiar (nothing new or BCX-specific to learn) and as good as any composing UI we're going to do in the browser. It already handles attachments and camera integration, too. We also get the notifications UI for free via the email-in feature.

All that and it works today, with no additional development. I think if we can make it clear, people will love this.

Here's how it looks:
